Remember to bring your Trophies (GT, no need to bring the contents of your trophy cabinet this year...). Fortunately this famous trophy will be there...but who will be the lucky person who has to lug it home...

Bimbo blast seals victory for BFLs, while 2s and 3 compete but lose.
Saturday Results Digest.
1sts
Edinburgh 2 80ao (Obeid 40, Bainbridge 5/27, P. Kumar 3/14) lost to Holy Cross 81-1 (S. Pickering 31*, N. Metha 21).
Getting Mazhar (700+ runs this season) for 0 was key (top delivery from Bimbo: top catch from Spick). After that, good spells from Bimbo and Praveen pressurised an understrength Edinburgh batting line-up into some 'ambitious' shots. A useful partnership (assisted by a few fielding lapses) between nos 9 & 10 showed that the pitch was perfectly playable before Milly ended it with one of his signature submarine balls. New boy Pat ended the innings with his third ball - a useful delivery that hit the top of off.
Runs efficiently knocked off (against some decent bowling, with the pitch doing some odd things) by Nipun, Spickers and cje.
Surprisingly early finish meant we could enjoy the Bates and Bailey show at Arbo and the BBQ (cheers to Bainbro, Mandy and Michael for their organisational efforts).
2nds
Carlton 3s 262 for 7 (C Paterson 126, Z Yusaf 42*) beat Holy Cross 2s 196 for 7 (P Bailey 64, J Bates 56, F Allardice 2 for 18, R Metcalfe 2 for 26)
Scorecard here
3rds
Carlton 4s 166 for 9 (G Newman 45, H Aslam 20, A Rive 20) beat Holy Cross 3s 132 all out (M Nevin 30+, B Irvine 3 for 12, H Aslam 2 for 33)

Thrashed, Clobbered and Gubbed

After three victories in Week 14, all three sides suffered heavy losses this Saturday.
Scores summary-details to follow...
1st XI -At Arboretum
Edin Accies 221-8
M. Brown 60, A. Moffat 45, H. Paton 33
C. Ellis 3/37 (plus a few misplaced toys-though throwing them was fully justified).
Holy Cross 96ao
S. Bonfield 30
M.Brown 5/13
M. Jordan 3/26
2nd XI
Div 5 (Inverleith Artificial)
Carlton 3rd XI 282-6 (Majumber 106, Whatley 80*)
Holy Cross 2nd XI 197-4 (9)(Mehta 71, Wright 41*)
I only caught 20 mins of this game but witnessed: some fine striking by Nipun and pvb; one loudish oooohh from pvb; a dog running away with the ball; a Carlton fielder getting smacked by the ball in a sensitive area; a rather dire run out (of Nipun just as he seemed to be heading for a ton); Mr Admin getting out in an unfortunate manner.
On my travels I also caught 3 balls of the DT vs Mufs 2nds game-in which I saw 2 Mufs wickets and a 4...
3rd XI
Div 8 (Campbell Park)
Kismet 240odd (4 for Ellis Snr)
Holy Cross 100 odd ao (??)
Runs for McGill and Geddes (McGill made much of this on his return to the Arbo Bar: though he neglected to say that it was against their occasional bowlers given a shot after the game was effectively over as a contest...)

Youthful Cross Prevail

The Cross fielded an unusually youthful and athletic side - with a few Cross veterans (McGill, Lawrie, Bates, Ellis) making up the numbers.
Skipper McGill prevailing against Don Wilkie in the battle of the cantankerous er.. captains.
A fluent start from the inform pair of Nipun Metha and C. J. Ellis (both retired on 30) followed by other useful contributions from 'Psycho' Bates (as he is known to Muffers), Vikram and Nawaz took us to 144.
Good bowling performance with good spells from Vikram, Burgess, McGill (adding to his long list of international victims), Bates, Nipun, and particularly Nawaz kept Mufs to just over a hundred -despite some fine striking from one of their openers (Anand Venkatesh). (Though he almost fell to an attempt for catch of the millennium from Andy G/J Pope-they attempted something along the lines of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWO5MO8z4ks )
Some good keeping from Ken -including a nice stumping (!!).
BTW can the person who borrowed my bat at the weekend and put a rather large crack right through the middle of it....
