Void match

Last Saturday's 3rd XI match with Morton has been declared void by ESCA - so we remain on 75.8% - whether the runs or wickets taken count for the final tally is anyone's guess.

    The games been voided because morton played a player who up until last year was the captain of morton 2nds but because hes played more games for morton 1st this year someone not mentioning names has reported the club for playing him in this fixture !!!!!!!!! STINKS TO ME .......... OF SERIOUS BAD LOSSERS but it'll be remembered and you will be watched for the next time you decide to play a player that has played higher up the club ! the way i understand it morton were toiling to field a team so they called on there old captain who has played for the 2nds on several occasions this year ! but no other team has felt the need to cry about it seems to me that its one rule for holy cross and different rules for everyone else ............ p.s i've played against your 3rds before when you've played 2nd and even 1st team players how is it allowed for you but not other teams like morton ???? weres the satisfaction of winning that way ????? well thats my 2 cents worth ( walks away shaking his head )

    Coastal responds (no names eh!)
    1/ We did not win - no-one gets points in voided match!
    2/ We do not play CORE 1st or 2nd teamers in our 3's!
    3/ We ok regular or form players with ESCA first and we have to have damn good reason for doing so or they'll refuse to ratify the selection!!!! I wonder why you didn't ask the league about playing your two first team 'fillers' perhaps you guessed what their answer would be!
    4/ The player you do mention has played ELEVEN times for your 1's and TWICE against HX for your 2's - AND ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE NO FIRST TEAM GAME! Thats why we have selection rules in ESCA. He'd have been in your ones if they did have a game.
    5/ So you called up one old player (and a new one too who opened the bowling for the 1's the previous week, took 3 wickets and scored 25 runs)Now these two 'FILLERS' scored 33% of your runs us and Opened your attack (16 overs 2 for 13) We'd all like fillers like those now wouldn't we!
    Well that's my tuppence worth! It was still a good game of cricket on the day, just wasn't a fair Division 8 game!
