All Hong Sao Shi Zi Tou's are on Michael

Sometimes whilst out and about around this great nation, one stumbles upon something that, for some reason, invokes a little smile.

He kept this quiet

Unsure quite what to do with this photo, or even why it contains humour, I submit it as part of our erstwhile caption competition.

I'll kick us off with the somewhat clunky:

"All Hong Sao Shi Zi Tou's are on Michael"

The Sham before the Storm - McGill's Midweekers sunk without trace

With the sky above Edinburgh opening up and drenching the Capital on Friday, it was perhaps an ominous sign the night before at Arbo when McGill's Midweekers leaked wickets with consummate ease against OCCC.

A bit of rain in Edinburgh on Friday!

Not much can be said about the game to be fair other than Princess Huffy aka Matt Cunningham was throwing his bat around for a second day in a row at Arbo but this time connecting with the ball. His retiral was perhaps one of the very few highlights of the night.

With the 1st XI up at Boroughmuir on Activcity Cup duty, the Midweekers pulled together a nucleus of a side and in the true spirit of T20 friendly cricket, the oppo 'loaned' a couple of fielders to the hosts, one of them taking two catches to allow Matt to take back to back wickets!

Overall, a pretty comprehensive win by the OCCC, a splinter group formed out of the Cross a few years back. Cross reaching 102, OCCC storming past that total with 33 balls to spare.

The game also saw the return of Callum McIntosh to Arbo following his defection to Tranent CC. His trigger finger seeing McGill return to the sheds for his second duck in a week at Arbo. Surely a Club Record?

Arbo "a bit damp but playable"

Broonster has just passed by Arbo and taken this photo of McGill inspecting the square.

When shown the photo, Smudger said: "the 2nds won't be prevented from playing by a foot or two of water."

Fifers keep Cross at Bay

Dalgety Bay dented HX III's promotion hopes with a win under the shadow of the Forth Road and Rail Bridges.

Russell & Fraser opened for the Cross on the artificial track which was surrounded by a slow outfield with the cut grass packed throughout.

The runs were slow to rack up, but with that no wickets were lost as the duo put on a partnership of some 85 (from memory!) runs before Russell returned to the pavillion and Fraser followed shortly after.

Callum 'The Skateboard King' McIntosh was in and out along with others from the middle order including pint sized Josey Ray who hit a handful before succumbing to a cheap fall.

Coco fell for a duck and made Broonster aware of that it will be one of the few times that he'll ever be able to say "I scored more than Coco and was still Not Out". The rookie reaching 2 not out which helped the Cross finish on 130 and gain all important batting points.

Was 130 going to be enough on this slow paddock? Despite a debut double (and a catch) from Dave Jones, a Coco couple and a flying Fraser catch, the early promise of potential smash and grab victory didn't materialise. A hat-trick of dropped catches and perhaps with the aid of a more generous LBW call it may have been a different outcome but sadly, just like the proposed new Forth Crossing, which would blot the picturesque landscape offered at the bowlers 'Asda End', it simply was a bridge too far.

Disappointing times, but there is always next time. The 3's will be out to prove that they have bouncebackability as they turn out for the first time this season at Campbell Park against MUFS 4s.
