July 13th - at Roseburn.
Murrayfield Dafs 119/7ish (Adeel batting well again after his runs against us for Macabi).
Holy Cross 'limping' to 65/7 (R. Bainbridge 27* ['forcibly retired'], B. Fraser 19).
As ever an entertaining game with some er friendly bowling on offer. The end wicket providing plenty of life for the quicker bowlers. Ken getting carried away with getting a wicket with his 1st ball of the season and trying to bounce the Mufs' batsmen out... In contrast Andy K and Bimbo 'tuned up' nicely for Saturday with two good short spells.
Thanks to Mufs for an enjoyable game and for providing a sub fielder - one who took 2 good catches!

good effort lads
ReplyDeleteit was a FRIENDLY game
ReplyDeleteMufs' view of events:
ReplyDelete'Result was a very comfortable victory over our old chums by 62 runs.
Electing to bat first, Mufs posted 125-7 off 20 overs with top batters Adeel retired on 27 (four 4s and one 6), Adam 24 retired, Amir 15, and Chris R 15 not out. Top bowler for Cross was Charlie Ellis with 3-8-2 ; also worth a mention is Bharat's two catches as a sub fielder for HX !
Holy Cross' reply was nipped in the bud early doors as the dangerous Pickering runs himself out for a duck taking on Madhu (one of his three run out victims) in a cheeky single attempt. Next Bharat takes the prize wicket of Charlie for 3 smartly caught behind by a keeping Belly. Bharat then traps Killey LBW for 0 and finishes with very fine figures of 3-7-2. Madhu also bowled tightly in his 3-6-0 spell. Rob Bainbridge hits a fine 27 before retiring and the introduction of the guile of Adeel sees a further 2 wickets claimed in his 2-2-2 spell before the other two Madhu direct hit run outs sees Cross finish on 63-7 off their 20 overs with B Fraser 19 not out.
Other bowlers used by Mufs are Paul L with 3-17-0, Adam S with 2-10-0, Vishwak 2-7-0, Amir 3-4-0 and Stuart P with 2-6-0.
An excellent performance in the field by Mufs - hopefully this will transfer into the weekend (if it ever stops raining...!!)'
Also worth mentioning was Michael's first ever run in third class cricket. As Coco pointed out that is a jug!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wicket and a run for the rugby convert, how long till he completes the hat trick with a catch?
