Explanation required

Can a member of the third XI please explain what is happening in this scene. I have spent the last 5 hours trying-but failing- to work out what is going on.

  1. Well.....

I tried hard in the match report to shed some light on it, but it was a tough one to compute!

Geddes pulled up with an injury which Mahmood tried to help by rubbing his leg - a call for a runner saw Usama help out.

Merely moments later, Coco felt the force of the Campbell Park sniper and deemed himself unable to carry on racing between the stumps (poetic licence - allow me please).

So, looking along the Cross bench and with Eberst, McIntosh, Broonster and Michael still to come in, the options were at best 'limited'. Nevin had showered and this kind of left a reluctant Ellis Snr to take his place in the starting blocks!!

The tourists from Dunfermline who assembled infront of their tent, were highly amused - asking if we were appearing in the Edinburgh Festival next month...

  2. But should Ellis Snr and Coco not be at the same end-the far end??

I think that a proper explanation requires a box of Subbeteo figures, an abacus and the laws of cricket.

  3. Indeed it would aoppear that 3 Cross batsmen are at the same end, I suppose this could be the run out but Usama and Keith appear to be going in opposite directions.

Also can anyone spot the ball?

  4. Three Cross batsmen at the same end and not a Charlie, Euan or Dougie amongst them. Thats just as unusual as two runners.

Who would ever have thought McGill would lack the stamina? Maybe a couple of days in The Priory are required.

  5. I believe that Ellis Snr is saying "is it my turn to putt or Keith's" ?
