Scotland Have Their Fingers Burnt by an Old Friend

Regan West's 7/88 for Ireland vs Scotland will re-awaken some painful memories for some Crossers. (see also Mr Admin's previous post). For Ireland he bats at 10/11 and bowls left arm orthodox (I seem to recall that he bowled spin after an accident whilst working at McDonalds).

I would post the scorecard depicting a certain innings he played at Arboretum in July 2001 but a virus (possibly the work of G. Wheatley) seems to have corrupted HJK's HX statistics programme which prevents that match being accessed.

  2. Good to hear from you Sheraz (you're 'we're the future of the club' speech at the Inch has proved fairly prescient: I was skipper last year, Euan is this year, while Calum is another prominent 1st teamer).

I wonder if you're thinking of different games.
I actually have access to the old scorecards (sad but true).
According to these you didn't play in the game in which he scored 200* in 2001 (this, I think was one game in which he only bowled a few overs of spin).

Are you perhaps thinking of the game in 2000 when he only scored 127 and you had your run-in with him and batted for 45 overs or so; as mentioned in James Bradley's summary of the season in the SCU yearbook:

'Occasionally grit was required, and here Sheraz Afzal's 36*, patient and
painstaking, against a Penicuik XI top-heavy with first team players is
    worthy of mention'.
