CA knock can't prevent Cross loss in Masterton

EC reports that in the Masterton Trophy 1st round (at Goldenacre):

Heriot's 187 for 3 - Bainbridge was pick of bowlers and V Gaware looked dangerous, clean bowling a former Scotland international.

Holy X 96 for 8 - Confident and stylish knock of 57 from CA Smith.

Good luck to Heriot's in the next round.

  1. Cold, dark night. Just three lost balls in the Heriots innings. Good catches from Norrie and Vik. Very good innings from Calum who, when finally out and much to the amusement of the opposition, sprinted from the field as he had a night shift ahead .... Nice cake from Lynsey.

  2. It wasn't all positives on Tuesday(?). EC drove one straight at a close in fielder, calling yes to end his innings. He was out so quick there wasn't even time for the usual 'yes, no' call. Bimbro then played the worst shot seen in the East of Scotland this season. He described it as 'a new low in my career'. It was quickly knocked off the top (surely bottom) of the charts by guesting 2nd team skipper Norberticus Webbmaster with a similarly gruesome flail. Absent Charlie Ellis has been blamed for yet again this season failing to win us a game singlehandedly. Misses the average damaging game v Heriots, plays in the average boosting friendly, hmmm.

wasn't due to be playing...but had to got and drop off the container keys...otherwise they'd have had no stumps or scoreboard....

could only stay for an hour so had time to open...with borrowed kit...

left straight after my innings...a nice way to play cricket btw. Ellis Snr believes that a new East League rule be introduced: those possessing a valid bus pass should be allowed to leave the field after bowling their spell...and be replaced by a some agile youngster (under 50 at least)-so they can put their feet up.
