We are deeply saddened to announce that John Brown, past President, Treasurer, captain and club stalwart passed away on Wednesday evening.

Broon (Thistles) wasn't just a stalwart of the club...he was a stalwart full stop. He bore his Parkinson's lightly and without fuss or calls for sympathy. The cancer that finally laid him down was about the only thing that could get past his defence. He will be sorely missed by his dear friends and by the Old Bores...his quarterly (or thereabouts) dinner companions who had played with him back in the day. Our thoughts are with his wonderful family and I hope the Club will celebrate his life with laughter and fond memories of his obdurate batting that sat so well with his obdurate defence of life.
