The tweet smell of success for our man in Sri Lanka

Social media can be an odd place at times.  It can bring out the worst in some, the stupidity in others however it can also give you that warm glowing feeling you get when you see a fluffy kitten picture on your timeline.

However, over the last 24 hours, Twitter has reunited a Crosser in Sri Lanka with some of his belongings.

Alex Candlish tweeted on the 27th September that he was "Off to Sri Lanka, on the recruitment drive for @HXCricket , hopefully can find some players who can tear up div 9 next season!"

What he did find was that by the powers of Twitter, he would be reunited with his wallet after dropping it whilst at the Sri Lanka v England Super Eight T20 World Cup clash at Pallekele.

Daily Mirror Cricket Correspondent Dean Wilson ( @CricketMirror ) tweeted "Does anyone know an Alexander Candlish who is at the game in Pallekele tonight? He has lost property and officials are keen to give it back"

He even asked legend Jonathan 'Aggers' Agnew to retweet his message to see "if twitter can do some good for a lad in the crowd here"

After some painstaking phone calls, facebook messages and tweets by Wilson, fellow Crosser Brian Fraser and the Club itself, we are delighted to note that Alex is set to be reunited with his wallet later this week!
